Parottasalna Course Notes · Last updated: 20 October 2026
Parottasalna Course Notes (“we”, “us”) is the online course portal of Parottasalna, run by Syed Jafer K. It lets students read course notes, take quizzes and track their progress. This page explains, in plain language, what information the app collects, why, who can see it, and the choices you have.
- We use Google Sign-In only to confirm who you are: your name, email address and profile picture.
- We don't access your Gmail, Drive, Contacts or any other Google data, and we don't keep Google access tokens.
- We store your course progress and quiz scores so you and your instructor can see them.
- We never sell your data, show ads, or share it for advertising.
- If you use resume review, your PDF is reviewed by an AI model on our own computer and deleted from our Google Drive 7 days after the review.
- You can ask us to delete your data at any time.
1. Information we collect
a) From Google Sign-In
You can only sign in with your Google account. When you do, Google shares the following with us,
using only the basic profile and email permissions:
- your name (full, first and last name)
- your email address, and whether Google has verified it
- your Google account ID (a number that identifies your account)
- the web address of your Google profile picture
We do not receive or store your Google password.
Anyone with a Google account can create an account, for example to use resume review or the free courses. Course material for enrolled students stays limited to the students enrolled in it.
b) Enrolment information
Your instructor adds the email addresses of enrolled students to a course. We keep that email address and the course it belongs to, so we know which courses you may open.
c) Your learning activity
When you use a course you are enrolled in, we store:
- which chapters you mark as complete, and when
- your quiz answers, scores and the time of each attempt
- your flashcard progress (which cards you marked as known)
- the private notes you write on chapters, including any text you quote from the page
- for your reading streak: which days you read or practised, and how many minutes you actively read each day (time with a chapter open and in use, not which pages)
Anyone can read our free “common” courses without signing in. For readers who are not enrolled in a course, we store no progress, quiz or notes data for that course.
d) Technical information
- Cookies that keep you signed in and protect forms (see section 6).
- Batch waitlist emails: until the batch opens or you ask us to remove you.
- Server logs: like most websites, our web server briefly records each request (IP address, date and time, page requested, browser type) to keep the service running and secure.
e) Usage statistics (Google Analytics)
We use Google Analytics to see which pages and courses are read most, so we know what to improve. It records the pages you open, roughly where you are (country/city), your device and browser, and how you arrived (for example from a search). It does not receive your name, email, quiz answers or notes. Google Analytics does not log or store IP addresses, and we have turned off Google signals and ad personalisation, so this data is not used for advertising.
It is not loaded at all if your browser sends a “do not track” signal (Global Privacy Control or Do Not Track). You can also block it with Google's opt-out browser add-on. We do not use tracking pixels or advertising cookies.
f) Live quizzes
At live events you can join a quiz with a PIN, without signing in. We store only the nickname you choose, your answers, how quickly you answered and your score. The nickname and score appear on the leaderboard shown on the host's screen, and the host can download the results. Please don't use your full name or other personal details as a nickname.
g) Classroom polls
When you vote in a classroom poll (by scanning its QR code), we store only your choice and a one-way fingerprint of a random id kept in a cookie, so each browser gets one vote. We don't store your name, and votes in different polls can't be linked to each other. The teacher sees the totals.
h) Job board
If you post a job, we store the details you enter and link the post to your account so you can edit or delete it and admins can review it. Your name and email are not shown on the job page; the company, the job details and the application link or email you give are public once an admin approves the post.
i) Resume review
If you upload your resume for review, we store the PDF in our own Google Drive account (it is not shared with anyone or made public), together with your sign-in email, the file name, the role you say you're aiming for, the time you agreed to the review, and the finished report. The PDF is read by an AI model that runs on a computer we operate; it is not sent to outside AI services and is not used to train AI models. That computer only receives the PDF and a tracking ID, not your name or email. The report is shown to you on the site, and may also be emailed to your sign-in address. Emails are sent through our own mail server software, which does not keep your address in a mailing list, and handed to an email delivery provider only to deliver them.
We delete the PDF from Google Drive 7 days after the review is finished (counted from the report email, if we send one), or straight away if you click “Delete this review now”. The report stays in your account until you delete it or your account is deleted. Portal administrators can see the PDF and the report, for example to check a review before it is sent.
j) Your profile
On your profile page you can add a few optional details: a headline, where you are in your career, your location, a short bio, your interests and links to GitHub, LinkedIn or a website. Only you and the portal administrators can see them; there are no public profiles. We use them to understand what our students want to learn and to suggest courses. You can change or clear them at any time, and they are deleted with your account.
If you add your live classes to your calendar, we create a private link for you that your calendar app checks for changes. It lists the sessions of your courses with their Google Meet links. Anyone with the link can see them, so keep it to yourself; you can replace it with a new one on your profile at any time.
k) Batch waitlist
If you ask to be told when a program's next batch opens, we store the email address you typed and the program, so we can email you about that batch. You do not need an account for this. Ask us and we will remove you from the list.

- Sign-in sessions: they expire after 2 weeks, or when you sign out.
